The first of the charities we’re supporting this Christmas is Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Sheffield, in the north of England.

Since opening in 2008, Bluebell Wood Hospice has cared for many kids with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions from across the local area.

The care that Bluebell Wood provides, for children and young adults whose lives are just too short, takes place in their own homes and at the hospice.

As well as looking after sick children, they also provide respite for parents, support for siblings and compassionate care for the whole family during the last moments of their child’s life.

Although the hospice has temporarily suspended its clinical services due to staff shortages, the focus at the moment is firmly on family support – including counselling, music therapy, wellbeing groups and family fun days.

Thanks to the kind donations the hospice receives, families are making special memories that they can treasure, whether that’s over a period of years or days.

Bluebell Wood is a welcoming home for those facing the toughest of times, and all of their services are completely free for families. They take some of the stresses away and aim to provide the best care possible. It’s a charity Metallix is only too happy to support.
